Description

Listen to an extract:

Emilie Mayer (1812 - 1841) was known to her contemporaries as "the Female Beethoven" and this interesting, attractive four movement symphony is in the late Classical style. Written in 1853 it includes a triangle in the orchestra for the final movement and three trombones appear in every movement.
The symphony was premiered in 1853 but probably has not been performed again since then.

Four movements:

  1. Adagio - Allegro con spirito
  2. Marche Funebre
  3. Scherzo
  4. Allegro
