10 Streets for Fluty is a colourful and inspiring collection of ten medium-easy flute quartets, specially designed for young players aged 6–14 and the teachers who guide them.
Each piece follows the imaginary journey of a little character, Fluty, who travels through ten countries: Japan, Ukraine, Norway, Albania, England, the USA, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, and Serbia. Each “street” introduces young flutists to a distinct musical atmosphere inspired by folk music from around the world, encouraging listening, curiosity, and musical storytelling.
The quartets are accessible yet musically rewarding, making them ideal for:
flute ensembles and beginner quartets
group lessons and workshops
school concerts and themed performances
With carefully balanced parts, clear textures, and engaging melodies, 10 Streets for Fluty helps students develop ensemble skills, rhythm, intonation, and musical expression—while keeping rehearsals fun and motivating.
A perfect addition to any flute teacher’s library, this collection invites young musicians to travel the world through music, one street at a time.
The work was commissioned by Trentino-based flute teachers Francesca Lombardi and Anna Emanuelli, this set was created with the classroom and ensemble rehearsal in mind. The composer, Matteo Firmi, is director of the civic wind orchestra in Trieste, Italy, and teaches ensemble music for wind instruments and harmony and composition.
