Tityre is Virgil’s Good Shepherd who plays on a slender pipe. Roussel wrote this piece as a character study of his friend, Gaston Blanquart (flute teacher at the Paris Conservatoire) to whom it is dedicated. Video performed by Nicole Esposito.
