- Voices: SATB, baritone solo & piano
- Composer: SGAMBATI, Giovanni (1841- 1914)
- Genre: Dramatic music for Choir & Orchestra
- Duration: ca. 12 minutes
Dramatic and powerful, it is surprising that this choral work is not often performed. We really like it. Composed in 1895 for the funeral in Rome of King Victor Emmanuel II, it stands, in our opinion, alongside the other great choral work of that period, the Requiem by Verdi (composed 20 years earlier). Sgambati later incorporated this Libera Me it into his own larger Requiem.
As well as the vocal score, it is possible to purchase a PDF for choir edition copies licensed to print up to a maximum of 60 or 150 copies. (printed choir editions available by demand).

Sgambati is a much neglected composer of worth, who has been the especial subject of research by Roz Trubger.
